March 26th 2008

Here the latest news from Mauritania.

All stations running well. Many nice QSO in the logs after good propagation last days. Every day about 5000 QSO in log. The Sunspots are now rating higher and lets hope for more good openings on 10m and 12m but the conditions on the lower bands going up and down now.

The Pactor runs und bring us the log from last day every day after. The crew has to fight against any problems wit the 9X0R if they operate on the same frequencies.

The pileups are mixed and many dupes in log.

On lowbands now SSB is running. Please call with your full call and not with last two letters or any two letters or so.

Please if 5T5DC is calling only JA or only Asia please be quiet and don't call if you are not from called zone.

Asia has a very small slot to reach 5T on lowbands, please give Asia a chance too.

Now here a small actual statistic:

EU: 38585 QSOs
AS: 1821 QSOs
AF: 944 QSOs
NA: 16347 QSOs
SA: 991 QSOs
OC: 216 QSOs

DL: 7177 QSOs
JA: 1022 QSOs
EA8: 721 QSOs !!!

March 18th 2008

After long 3 days without news from the crew now here the latest.

Antennas:
All antennas now ready to use and the crew is on air from 160m to 10m. Any problems with the 160m inverted-L antenna are removed and we hope we can bring up a good signal around the globe.
For 80m the crew has build a new inverted-L antenne and mount this.
All stations now are running but we only can operate from 5T with legal limit only 100W all bands.
We hope we can get a permission to make more power next days. We will inform you.

Team:
All crewmembers are in fine shape after a little time to acclimatize from 5 degree in germany to 45 degree and hot sun in Mauritanie.

Log:
Now the Pactor is running well and we hope to update the log daily.
For the 5T Crew is DX-Cluster or Internet not available
Please remember: Maretanie is one of the poorest Countries of the world. It is not Europe not America it is just Africa.

In the last days we get more help by several organizations and DXers.
While everyone can listen to pirate calls during the preparation of the Clipperton DX-Pedition we will inform you about our callsign just in time.... Please be patient and have a look at this side from time to time....

March, 14th:   meeting of the guys coming from the East at DK8YYs location for picking up

the equipment at noon the complete team will arrive at Frankurt / Main

airport for checking in flight to Casablanca, short meeting with Ingrid

Bergman and Humphrey Bogart. After a last drink the Royal Air Maroc will

                    bring us to Nouakchott.

March, 15th:  around 0200 UTC we will check out and go by bus to our location. We hope

to find a few hours of sleep and after breakfast we will setup the stations.

So, if everything works fine, we can get on air one day earlier as planned at

afternoon. As quick as possible we will errect groundplanes for the higher

bands. So we can operate within a short time. The other antennas will setup

at the first and second day.

30th:             DXpedition runs

March, 20th:  Rich, DK8YY will arrive at Mauritania

                   to Germany.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a few weeks here are the latest news.

Arround new years eve the breaking news for canceling the 30th session of the Rallye Paris - Dhakar made a little discussion within the team. But after a short break we went back to normal business. Everything is still on GO!
A few calls and emails to the German and Mauritania embassies gave us a good feeling. We cross the fingers for a lucky DXpedition!

Next weekend a part of the team will meet for packing and minimizing the transportweights (you can buy 10kg more package for 160 euros, supportinfo at the end of this side ;-) ) , checking the rest of the equipment and get the last eyeball-QSO before they are leaving in the mid of March.

Six guys will start their trip at March, 14th from Frankfurt / Main airport, so it may be possible that we will start one day earlier than we expected. Rich, DK8YY will follow one week later. Ralf, DL3JJ and Andi, DL7ZZ will leave the team at 5T at March, 28th for getting back home to the office. The rest of them will fly home at March, 30st.

Next news will come a.s.a.p.
